Tracking, sometimes called self-monitoring, is a comfortable way to chart your progress toward your goals–and can help us accomplish them. Whether your goals include consistent exercise, more piano practice, saving money, or more time spent with friends and family creating a tracking system can help you see the incremental progress you are making, and that increases more motivation.
Consistent effort over time is the foundation of goal achievement and tracking helps us stay focused and aware while also activating our unconscious mind to help us find creative ways forward.
Polly is taking a more serious approach to track several of her goals this year. She simply marks a square on a page of grid paper she keeps in the back of her notebook each time she makes progress. Many people use a tracker app, make charts to hang on the refrigerator, and find other creative methods to follow their efforts.
