085 – Trust, Communication, and Humility W/ Gen. Jim Huggins
Episode 86March 18, 2021
In this episode, I chat with Gen. Jim Huggins, U.S. Army(Ret.). Jim retired from the US Army after 35 years of service, seven combat tours of duty, and as Chief Operating Officer of the United States Army. In that position, he served as the principal advisor to the Secretary of the Army on Joint Service, National Security Council, and the politico-military aspects of international affairs. He directed the resourcing, restructuring, and budget execution for 1.1 million soldiers, 330,000 civilians, and a $170 billion budget. From 2010 to 2012, Jim served as the Commanding General of the 82nd Airborne Division and NATO Regional Command South (Kandahar) Afghanistan.
After a military career and being the son of a soldier growing up, Gen. Huggins wanted to do something very different and develop skills outside of the defense industry. The McChrystal Group was a perfect fit as they work with a variety of clients in various industries faced with complex leadership challenges in a rapidly changing environment.
